Social Awkwardness

So… I am socially awkward. Everybody that knows me knows that. It takes all the courage I can muster up to go to a party where nobody I know is there except for the one friend that said, “It’s OK, you can come. They don’t care who goes.” And then when you get there you are the only person at the party that they don’t know. People that are also socially awkward know what I’m talking about…

I’ll set the scene for anyone that actually bothers to read this…

Everybody at the party is sitting/standing around talking to each other. You are standing on the sidelines just listening to them talk. You know that they know you are there and have recognized your existence at the party.  You catch them looking at you every once in a while, and then they go back to talking with their friends, while thinking that they are thinking you are weird for just standing around/not talking.

They start talking about something that you have some knowledge in and can carry on a decent conversation, but you don’t say anything because you are not sure whether or not you have been accepted into the social group. You think that if you say something then everyone will start hating you because it is not your place to be talking at that moment.

Your silence continues and you start contemplating whether you should leave or not. But then you think, I haven’t said anything to anybody and if I just get up and leave then I will always be the creep that goes to parties and doesn’t say anything. You are fighting with yourself throughout the whole party trying to summon the courage to say something, but you never do. So you end up staying until the party is over and still haven’t said anything but an awkward “See ya” on your way out. Since you actually had the guts to say that, you will now be able to go to the next party after fighting yourself and making yourself go and repeat the process.

End scene.

I realize that there are probably different types of social awkwardness… But it sucks to have any type of social awkwardness. Meh… Anyway, it’s not always like this. It depends on the people and the place and the mood. It’s different every time….

Infinite Stratos Anime Review

Hey everyone, long time no write. I recently got through watching an anime that one of my friends recommended to me. If you haven’t guessed what is is by now, then read the title… It’s called “Infinite Stratos.” Before I get into the review, let me just remind everyone that is reading that reviews are solely based on the writers opinion and you don’t need to think that I’m claiming my opinions to be truth. THEY’RE JUST OPINIONS. Go watch it if you want to form your own opinion about it.

My friend and I have a little different taste when it comes to what type of anime we think are good, but they’re not so different that we hate all the anime the other one watches. Anyway, he recommended it to me because he had just got through watching it and said that it was good, so I was expecting it to be at least a decent anime. But I was in for a surprise…

CAUTION: SPOILERS!

I began watching Infinite stratos, and right from the get-go it was obviously a harem anime. It’s about a new machine that is called “Infinite Stratos” or “IS” that for some reason only a girl can pilot. But this boy (Orimura), the main character, just happened to touch this machine and it responded to him, so he is forced to go to an all-girls school that teaches them how to pilot these machines.

It sounds pretty stupid so far right? So why did I keep watching it you ask? Because it was recommended to me and because I’ve seen some harem anime that were pretty decent.

It’s pretty much the same basic harem anime that you usually see. First you have Orimura’s “childhood friend” that comes into the story. As usual, her character is shy yet aggressive, and she likes Orimura.

Orimura is nominated to be the class president, because, after all, he IS the only boy in the school. Then another girl that is in the same class as him comes into the picture. She has a stuck-up personality and refuses to accept the idea that a rookie is going to be class president. So they decide to have a dual with their IS. Long story short, she wins, but only after Orimura is about to strike the final blow and his shield runs out, so the match goes to the girl. Which in turn, somehow makes her like him and she forfeits the position of class president to Orimura.

That’s it… I can’t do this anymore…. Long review made short. This anime sucks. The story isn’t interesting at all. All the heroines are the typical shy, aggressive, stuck-up, loli, childhood friend characters that any typical harem anime will have. It never comes to a close as far as a relationship is concerned. The final episode was about as bad as it was expected to be and ends with all the heroines trying to kill Orimura because he was going in for the kiss with his childhood friend before they stopped him.

END SPOILERS

There is no depth to the anime at all. The characters are not developed well enough to make this a good story.

They could have had a good story if they would have put some thought into it. It was a good idea for an anime, but it seems the writers like to write about harems, so they turned the story into a harem. Maybe next time Infinite Stratos writers, maybe next time.

Dang… This post will probably come up in the search engines for the term “harem” because I’m using it so much… Anyways…

(half-way rant) Anime Blog Posts

I started browsing through the anime wordpress blog posts, and I realized that there are a lot of people that get REALLY into the anime. I’m not talking about the, “wth, they could have done a better job on this episode” kind of stuff, I’m talking about pretty much believing that the characters are real.

Example: “Huh, Junichi this is totally your fault. AI HNGGGGGG. Junichi, you better make it up to her in the next episode.”

Need I say more?

I’ve heard this thing about “anime fan girls” but I’ve never actually seen it like this before. I’ve seen people so obsessed that they memorize everything there is to know about the anime such as the intro song, the ending song, the support characters names and their story in the anime. Even the support characters for the support characters…. It doesn’t make sense to me.

I can get pretty excited by an anime having a good story line and good character development, but I never go so far as to act like the characters are real.

Some claim to know the Japanese language because they watch anime so much. Sure, you can learn a few things by watching anime, but you’ll never be fluent in the language just from that.

とにかく、この件に関して、私の意見はそれだけだ。

Random Song

So, I was surfing Youtube cause I was bored and I found a rather skilled guitarist. The guitarists name is “Yuki Matsui.” The song that I heard of his inspired me to write one myself, but I tried for an hour and gave up cause I had already figured out a while ago that I suck at writing songs and nothing will ever come of it.

Anyway, the song I heard is called “Friend.” I know, it’s not really a fitting name for the song, but when have the Japanese ever used good English names in any of their titles? ANYWAY! Here’s the song.

I don’t know how this guy ever came up with this melody, but then again how do all musicians come up with the melodies they do? That’s the biggest reason why I can’t write music, because I can’t ever come up with a good melody. For the rest of my guitar playing life all I’ll be able to do is cover songs and tab them out. November Rain

I’ve been listening to this song for a while now. In fact, I’m listening to it right now as I’m typing. November Rain by Guns N Roses arranged for fingerstyle by Sungha Jung. It has a really catchy tune to it. I keep humming it over and over again. There’s already a tab out on ultimate guitar for it, so I’m not going to bother tabbing it out.

Anyway, that’s all I came to write. There hasn’t really been anything interesting going on in my life right now…….. Blerg… じゃ、後でブログに書くのです。
